Rebrand for Sussex-based Independent Financial Advisors


The brief

As part of an update in marketing strategy and direction, my good friend and talented photographer, Amanda Thomas asked if I’d help her with a rebrand of her photography business.

As a photographer, Amanda specialises in fashion and portrait images working with designer makers, emerging artisans & modern people of style with purpose. She felt that her current brand no longer reflected this, or spoke correctly to the type of clients she was looking to work with.

The design

After a briefing discussion with Amanda, we decided that the style of the new brand should align closer with the type of fashion clients Amanda was targeting. Simple, cool, clear, clean, iconic branding. A monotone colour palette would also help reflect this – thinking along the classic lines of some of the famous fashion brands such as Chanel or Givenchy.

The result

The finished logo uses a simple dark grey and white colour palette. A beautiful serif ‘A’ character (for Amanda) contrasts subtly with the clean, modern sans serif font Gotham.

This style was taken through to business card design for the photographer, again keeping things really clean and iconic. Part of the strength of the brand is that it allows Amanda’s fantastic fashion images to shine through in other marketing materials such as the website and a Look Book which I also designed. The brand allows the photography to be the hero, without the need to clutter it with other elements.

The Look Book is a 148mm square twelve page booklet, printed on clean, white, uncoated stock. This was designed primarily as a leave-behind for a networking event where potential clients from the fashion industry would be present. It can also be used as a new business tool going forwards – a leave behind after initial new business meetings.
