B2B Compliance

B2B Compliance – not-for-profit WEEE compliance scheme

The brief

B2B Compliance is a separate brand of, but in the same offices as, an existing client of mine – Ecosurety. Producers of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) have to comply with the UK Waste Electrical and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) regulations, which can sometimes be quite difficult to understand for businesses. B2B Compliance help such businesses to understand their obligations and work with them to be compliant.

The existing B2B Compliance brand was very dated (around 14 years old) and bore little relevance to the modern businesses it needed to appeal to and represent. The brief was for the new brand to convey an image of an experienced, confident, respected B2B partner.

The design

As well as a modern, clean, look, there was a request that the new brand should maintain a link in terms of colour, with the old logo. The old logo was a fairly dull, corporate, mid blue, so I took the decision to brighten and bolden the colours up slightly. Choosing two blues either side of the current one got rid of the dull blue colour. This process also gave the brand two blues that were both fresher and bolder, whilst not moving colours too far away.

Moodboard – starting point for the branding

Moodboard – starting point for the branding

The design process started with a mood board of colours, sketches and example logo styles to gain client approval before moving on with design. It was decided that a logotype approach (rather than a graphic icon) was preferred. I then experimented with different letterforms for the main ‘B2B’ characters. We really liked the way the number ‘2’ character curled round to almost meet itself again, so I decided to echo this in the ‘B’ characters, introducing a gap in the letterform.

The final logo uses a simple two colour approach which can be ‘flipped’ to work on the dark blue background by changing the colour of the word ‘compliance’ to white. A subtle light blue dot over the lower case ‘i’ adds character and helps to link the two separate elements of the logotype together.

The resulting rollout

Brand roll-out included the usual logo suite for client use, as well as email newsletter template, brand guidelines document, presentation slide template, business cards and editable A4 document template.

Website design and build

A large job, secondary only to the main rebrand was to redesign and develop a brand new website. Read more about this by clicking the link below.
